The Importance of a Mentor
Meeting my spiritual Teacher was a pivotal point in my life. Continuing to study with my Teacher remains one of my highest priorities. I believe it is very important to find an experienced mentor or teacher that you resonate with for whatever your studies – be they music, sports, religion or spirituality…someone who can lead and guide you, and who can light a fire in you when you get complacent or begin to stray from your goals. A good teacher is kind and loving, but also resolute and firm in guiding you. There are four elements of a transformative practice: intention, attention, repetition and guidance. A teacher or mentor can help guide us through these essential elements. But it is also important and vital to know that the best teacher is your own inner Self – effective guides, mentors and teachers will allow you to see and tap into your true Self as your own ultimate Guru (Gee, yoU aRe yoU!) My students hear me in class often say that they are their own best teachers, and I’m just here to give them a few ideas along the way.
